Please be aware of the following traffic bulletin from the Highways Agency:
Drivers are being reminded that the entry and exit slip roads of the northbound A23 at the Warninglid junction in West Sussex will be closed to traffic from early next Tuesday morning (28 August) while major improvements at the junction get underway.
The road layout at the junction is being substantially changed to make it easier and safer to get on and off the A23, by improving the alignment of the slip roads, building a new roundabout and constructing new, safer access routes for properties along the A23.
The work is part of a major road upgrade of the A23 between Handcross and Warninglid, which is being widened form two lanes to three in each direction.
The slip roads will remain closed for around seven months, during which time fully signed diversion routes will be in place. Drivers seeking to exit the northbound A23 at Warninglid will be directed to leave the A23 at the Handcross junction instead, and then onto the B2110 and B2115 back toward Warninglid. Drivers seeking to join the northbound A23 at Warninglid will be directed to follow one of two diversions - via the B2110 from the west or the B2114 from the east - both of which lead to the Handcross junction.
The Highways Agency will continue to closely monitor traffic flow - both on the A23 and on local roads - and will work hard to keep traffic flowing at all times. The slip roads are expected to reopen in mid March 2013.
