Citroen has expanded the newly launched Euro 5 Citroen Nemo range in an effort to strengthen its Business Class programme.

The more economical and lower emissions Nemo HDi 75 EGS Stop & Start 660 LX is Citroen’s smallest van at just 3.86m long but boasts a large internal load volume of 2.8m³ with payloads of up to 660kg.

Scott Michael, Citroen’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager, commented: “At the launch of the ‘Citroen Vans – Business Class’ programme, Citroen stated that one of its key elements was the development of environmentally respectful, fuel efficient vehicles. The Citroen Nemo HDi 75 EGS Stop & Start 660 LX exemplifies this strategy.

“It enables hard pressed businesses to provide their drivers with the comfort and convenience of two pedal driving, while gaining from additional fuel efficiency and emissions benefits. And, amazingly, the Citroen Nemo HDi 75 EGS Stop & Start 660 LX is only £400 more expensive than the equivalent manual transmission model.”

Click here to see leasing deals on the Citroen Nemo.

The Citroen Nemo HDi 75 EGS Stop & Start 660 LX provides even better fuel economy and lower emission figures than those achieved by the Euro 5 Nemo HDi vans with five-speed manual transmission. CO2emissions for the EGS model are reduced by 3.54% to just 109g/km from the manual transmission Euro 5 model’s 113g/km. Its exceptional fuel economy figures are also even better than those of the manual transmission van with 60.1mpg Urban (+7.82%), 74.3mpg Extra Urban (unchanged) and 68.9mpg Combined (+4.64%).

The standard specification of the range-topping Nemo HDi 75 manual Stop & Start 660 Enterprise has been enhanced with a new dual-function Connecting Box, which includes Bluetooth and a USB socket.

The Citroen Nemo HDi 75 EGS Stop & Start 660 LX features Citroën’s innovative Electronic Gearbox System – an advanced automated manual gearbox. This combines the fuel efficiency of a manual ’box with the driver benefit of a two pedal automatic. The EGS gearbox enables the driver to select automatic mode, or manual mode using the sequential shift facility of the central gear selector.

The Citroen Nemo is available right now.

If you’re regularly clogged up in city centre traffic, do you ever wonder how much time you waste just sat there, waiting for the lights to change and the way to clear?

Well new research has found that around 43% of the journey will be spent stationary. On average.

A survey from Citroen has found that during a 60 minute drive at rush hour, city centre commuters will spend 25 minutes (and 39 seconds) going absolutely nowhere with London and Manchester being the worst for congestion.

Citroen conducted tests in five major UK cities last month – London, Manchester, Norwich, Birmingham and Cardiff – during traditional peak times 8-9am and 5-6pm to promote their new Citroen C4’s e-HDi ‘Stop & Start’ diesel engine technology which maximises economy and minimises CO2 emissions by turning off the car’s engine when stationary.

Marc Raven, Citroën’s Communications Director, commented: “Despite a general downward trend in traffic during the economic slowdown, many urban commuters are experiencing similar, if not worse stop-start journeys to work as they were five years ago.”

The average time a vehicle is stationary has increased by an average of 3 minutes 5 seconds (13.7%) over the last five years.

London motorists were static for 36 minutes 28 seconds at the start of 2011; a huge jump from 19 minutes 20 seconds in 2006. Manchester also leapt from 21 minutes to 28 minutes 39 seconds. In contrast, Cardiff saw an average 10 minute reduction in the time spent stationary.

Stationary time wastes fuel and with prices crippling many a pocket, Marc Raven doesn’t expect the situation to improve any time soon.

“Our continued research shows the overall congestion in UK cities is not getting any better for traffic weary drivers. The spiralling cost of fuel is a raw issue and an idling engine in stationary gridlock only adds to the bill,” added Raven.

Along with Serge Besten, Citroen make it a French one-two in the close season for the club; with the manufacturer providing staff and officials with access to its cars and also playing a key role in the Club’s Community development programme by providing the new Berlingo LCV and Relay vans as support.

The Retail Group will also aim to tempt Wasps supporters with special offers on Citroen vehicles bought from local dealerships, such as the ones at Slough and London West.

Peter Scrivener, London Wasps’ Commercial Director, commented; “We’re delighted to have Citroen supporting the team both on and off the pitch and the use of their vehicles will be especially beneficial to our community work.”
