Thatcham company profile

Thatcham: Thatcham is a not-for-profit organization which provides a range of products, research and data services to the insurance, motor manufacturing and motor repair industries. In 2004, Thatcham achieved ISO9001:2000 accreditation - recognition of our commitment to maintaining and improving quality. We work closely with vehicle manufacturers to improve safety and security, and help to produce designs which limit accident damage and improve the ease of the repair process. Thatcham carries out research targeted at containing or reducing the cost of motor insurance claims, whilst maintaining safety and quality standards. We also test and accredit crash repair parts and vehicle repair technicians. We are probably best known by motorists for testing vehicle security systems and for our work in testing seats for whiplash prevention. Less well known is the fact that we provide some 70% of the data that insurers use to define a car's insurance grouping.
